Unfortunately we have had to cancel this Event as the Speaker is unwell and his Doctor advised rest. We hope to run this again later in the year.
“The coastal plain around Chichester has afforded an ideal location for the creation of Royal Air Force Aerodromes in times of need, from the first at Tangmere, to the many constructed in WWII.
Dudley Hooley, Director of the Tangmere Military Aviation Museum will relate the story of RAF Apuldram, an Advanced Landing Ground adjacent to Chichester Harbour, built to support the Invasion of Europe. The talk covers the special construction of the runways, the Squadrons who operated from Apuldram, life at Apuldram, on and off duty, as well as Typhoon operations and some very special and unusual visitors. Finally, the support to D-Day and back to farmland.”
